It's Holiday Review (and Giveaway) Time!

GET JOLLY! GET JOLLY! GET SO JOLLY IT MAKES YOU JOLLY!

*ahem*

Soon enough it will be December 1, and this means one of two things:

1.  My Twitter feed will soon be entirely consumed by people talking about the new JoJo's Bizzare Adventure anime.

2. It's time for The Manga Test Drive's annual holiday reviews!

That's right, it's time once more where I review 1 manga a day from the start of the month until Christmas Day, spotlighting some of the best and worst titles of the year.  That also means that it's time for the site's annual Holiday Giveaway.

If you've been a regular reader, you know how this goes.  If not, then all you have to do to enter is to leave a comment on this post or this Tweet to enter telling me what your favorite manga of the year might have been.  It doesn't necessarily have to be a manga that was released this year - so long as it was new to you, it counts!  I'll pick one at random afterwards to receive a $25 RightStuf gift certificate, ready to be spent on all those glorious post-holiday sales.

I'm looking forward to your responses, and I hope you'll be looking forward to these reviews!

  1. I did finally get a chance to read all of the Sailor Moon manga for free thanks to the library, but I'll spotlight a new manga: Kageki Shoujo! I'm loving it so much. The anime was terrific too, but unfortunately didn't get a chance to touch on my favorite manga plot point so far (Sarasa meeting the elderly man on the school board who recalls loving Kouka as a boy and living through its devastation during the war). I'm eagerly awaiting volume 3 of the manga and I will keep on buying all subsequent volumes after that!

  2. It's always tough to pick just one, but I think this year I have to give it to Chainsaw Man. The last half of the first "arc" just blew me away.

  3. I think the thing I've liked the most this year was Komi Can't Communicate. I love that the laughs are never at Komi, but aimed at the situations around her. She's never the butt of the joke.

  4. I'd suppose the manga I've loved most this year's Komi Can't Communicate!

  5. Speaking of the best manga I read this year, I would choose by category. But first I would like to point out that I am the kind of person who reads almost any genre, provided they have an interesting story.

For starters I choose the manga category:
Futari solo Camp: - Besides reading manga, my second hobby is camping. Solo Camp is a manga that I can say goes into detail about camping. It is a different manga than YuruCamp which shows us the relaxation area and the landscape. From my point of view, Futari Solo Camp is the only manga that shows us what to do, what to choose and how to use camping gadgets. Of course the manga has a pretty good art, there is humor, adventure and everything related to camping.

Cestvs: The Roman Fighter - Of course there are main problems with these manga, but we will start with the one that was present: the historical inaccuracies. The quality of a historical manga does not depend entirely on its accuracy, but it should not intentionally misinform people. 'Instead of taking place' in a clearly fictionalized version of history and establishing its own world there (Appears Ranman and Moriarty Patriot),

Arte - It is one of the manga that tells us about the discrimination of women in the 16th century. She dreams of becoming an artist, an impossible career for a girl born into a noble family. In those days, art was an exclusively male profession, with women being severely discriminated against. Despite these challenges, Arte perseveres with hard work and a positive attitude. And I advise you to read it.

The Unwomanly Face of War - I don't want to say too much about her, but it's that manga that describes the woman soldier from World War II. It's about the women heroines who took part in the war.

    Her Majesty's Swarm
    Magus of the Library

    In manhua/manhwa category:
    Both have a fascinating story
Feng Shen Ji - The Legend and the Hero
Skeleton Soldier Couldn't Protect the Dungeon

One Shot : At the end of 4 minutes

I apologize for my weird english.
